Isocure

The Isocure Process, similar to Isoset, uses a blend of dry sand mixed with a two-part resin, blown into a “corebox” to form a sand core. Core boxes are typically made of some type of metal, urethane or wood. A small amount of Amine gas is then purged through the sand and out vents in the core box.  When this gas mixes with the two-part resin the core becomes hard. It is important to distribute the gas evenly throughout the whole box or you may end up with soft or uncured areas.

On average, our Isocure machine runs fifty percent higher productivity over a comparable Isoset machine which improves lead-times for these cores.  Not only does this machine reduce cost with faster cycle times, Isocure sand is about thirty percent less expensive than Isoset sand and we are able to do the core box rigging in-house.

Supreme Cores, Inc. has one “Isocure” machine. Please refer to our machine list for a listing of the Isocure machine and core box sizes that will fit the machine. We currently offer a few different Isocure sand mixes which are available depending on the type of metal you are pouring or the application of the core. Please see a listing of the types of sands available for use.

Supreme Cores completed a case study on a two pound core for iron castings, being made in Shell.  We rigged the core box in-house for our LL10 Laempe machine and produced the core in our Isocure department.  Below are our findings.

–          57% reduction of sand cost from Shell to Isocure

–          57% increase in the productivity from Shell to Isocure.

–          25% increase in the productivity of finishing and packaging of the cores because they are of a better quality.

–          Better sand compaction

–          Lower scrap at the Foundry in castings lost.

–          Lower tooling costs

These same results could be achieved on other similar Shell jobs that you may be making.  Contact us if you would like a quote.
